Atlantis Leisure Extends Sunday Opening Trial
Back in June, we told you about our trial return of Sunday opening here at Atlantis. Well, 7 weeks have flashed by and we’re happy to announce that we will be extending the trial until the end of September.
This doesn’t mean it’s been easy. Since re-opening after lockdown we have been working hard at rebuilding and re-training our team. Extending the opening hours to span the full week involves a steep increase in costs. These costs are necessary to cover the higher utility usage as well as the increased staffing costs. All across the town, we’re each feeling the pinch as the energy crisis gets worse and sends costs spiralling. At Atlantis, that looks like significant hikes in the cost of things like electricity, gas and pellet for our biomass boiler – all already greatly increased from this time last year, and rising. As trustees of your community centre, it’s more important than ever that we consider each step of Atlantis’ journey very carefully.
We recognise that it’s our job as the Atlantis team to worry and sort out all the things we’ve mentioned above – your job is to turn up and have fun! And that’s exactly what we need you to keep doing. Keep voting with your feet and turning up to use Atlantis.
We’ve been having a think about how we can make it even easier and more fun for you to get stuck in. Keep an eye out online and around the Centre for how you can get involved in fun new activities planned for September. You can always stop and ask any member of the Atlantis team what’s on too.
Atlantis is a charity. Every pound that comes through the door is reinvested right back into the Centre. Please help make sure Atlantis is still here for years to come and get involved today.
