Swimming Pool Family & Child Admission Policy

 

The purpose of this Child Admission Policy is to help safeguard children, who are the group most at risk using swimming pools.

All children under the age of 8, plus any disabled child, and any children over the age of 8 who are weak or non-swimmers, must be accompanied into the water by a responsible adult, aged 16 or over, and the adult must maintain adequate supervision of all children in his/her charge at all times, particularly weak or non-swimmers.

Children under the age of 4 - must be accompanied into the water by an adult on the basis of 1 adult to 1 child.

Children under the age of 4, wearing approved buoyancy aids* [whether swimmers or non-swimmers] - can be accompanied into the water on the basis of 1 adult to 2 children, but restricted to the small pool.

Children aged 4 to 8 - must be accompanied into the water by an adult on the basis of 1 adult to 2 children.

Children aged 4 to 8, wearing approved buoyancy aids* [whether swimmers or non-swimmers] -can be accompanied into the water on the basis of 1 adult to 3 children - not restricted to the small pool.

Children aged over 8 - who are weak or non-swimmers must be accompanied into the water on the basis of 1 adult to 2 children.

Children aged over 8 - who are swimmers do not require to be accompanied by an adult.

Disabled children - must be accompanied into the water on the basis of 1 adult to 1 child.

* approved buoyancy aids include armbands, swim seats & swim jackets, which are available from Atlantis Leisure reception.

Groups of children of mixed ages - must be accompanied into the water in accordance with the above requirements. It may be best to check with reception before travelling.

One adult can supervise:

  •     1 disabled child

  •     1 child under 4

  •     2 children under 4 with buoyancy aids in the small pool

  •     2 children between 4 and 8

  •     3 children between 4 and 8 with buoyancy aids

  •     2 children over 8 who are non-swimmers
